ANTERIOR TECHNIQUE:
Seated Side-Body (Right  Side Only)

1.  Side Body:
  • Practitioner Position:
Sit at S1 on a stool near the corner of the massage table. Working foot right.
  • Sarga Wrapping Technique:
No Sarga Strap needed.
  • Stroke Direction & Foot Mechanics:
Pick up the recipient’s arm and bring it over his/her head, holding it at the bent elbow or resting it on your left leg. Begin with contact slightly under the body, with ball of the foot against the scapula. Work down the side of the body with the full plantar surface of your foot, gently articulating the arm for a pin-and-stretch effect. Three variations: 1) Finish posteriorly, ending with your medial arch at the iliac crest. 2) Finish anteriorly, medial to ASIS and slightly into the lower abdomen, with your big toe/pad of the foot as the working surface. 3) Focus on upper latissimus dorsi and serratus anterior with 2-3 scalloping strokes above the floating ribs. Move the recipient’s arm back and forth slowly to create a pin-and-stretch as you work the tissue posteriorly.
  • Target Tissue:
Shoulder rotators, latissimus dorsi, serratus anterior, obliques, psoas.
  • Considerations & Contraindications:
Don’t use direct pressure in the axillary area. Be mindful of armpit hair.
