POSTERIOR TECHNIQUE:
Seated Side-Body
(Right Side Only)

1.  Side Body:
  • Practitioner Position:
Sit at S1 on a stool near the corner of the massage table. Working foot left.
  • Sarga Wrapping Technique:
Use the left side of the Sarga Strap for tensional support.
  • Stroke Direction & Foot Mechanics:
Take the recipient’s arm and place it over his/her head to rest on the upper part of the face cradle. Take the right side of the Sarga Strap  and use it to gently hold the recipient's arm in place by supporting it at the wrist. Bring your left foot to start the stroke on the rotator cuff of the recipient's scapula. Work towards the foot of the table with a broad contact surface, focusing pressure on the medial arch of your foot. Continue to work down the side-body, lessening pressure over the floating ribs. Two variations: 1) Finish with gentle traction on the iliac crest. 2) Finish by working in towards the spine and targeting Quadratus lumborum with the medial aspect of your heel.
  • Target Tissue:
Shoulder rotators, latissimus dorsi, serratus anterior, obliques, quadratus lumborum.
  • Considerations & Contraindications:
Be mindful of the floating ribs. Don’t use direct pressure in the axillary area. Be mindful of armpit hair.
